Prepare Cosplay Armor for Paint

Create a dependable finish by cleaning, testing, sealing, and planning color before the final costume pieces are assembled.

Paint preparation makes the final color easier to control. Remove loose dust, smooth rough contact points, and test the full process on an offcut before committing to a large panel.

Plan broad color blocks first. Armor reads from a distance through silhouette and contrast, so major panels and trim lines should be clear before you work on weathering or small accents.

Give each layer time to set. Rushing assembly can leave fingerprints, scuffs, and sticky contact points that are much harder to correct after straps and hardware are attached.
