A reliable foam-armor kit is less about owning every specialty tool and more about having a few dependable choices for each stage of the job. Start with tools that help you make clean decisions before you add tools for speed.
For measuring and pattern work, keep a straight edge, flexible tape, paper, and a marker close at hand. Accurate reference lines and labeled pattern pieces save more time than a complicated purchase.
Use a sharp blade for clean cuts and replace it often. Dull blades pull at foam, create ragged edges, and make symmetrical pieces harder to match. Practice on offcuts until you are comfortable with the angle and pressure.
