Clean Retro Game Cases for Display

Use a gentle, careful routine to improve presentation without harming paper inserts, brittle plastic, or old labels.

Older game cases often carry dust, fingerprints, and storage marks that make a collection look less cared for than it is. Start with the least aggressive method: a soft dry cloth or brush to remove loose dust. Check the case material and label condition before introducing moisture.

Keep paper inserts, manuals, and labels as dry as possible. Use light pressure and avoid scrubbing edges, corners, or areas where ink already looks weak. Test a small inconspicuous area if you are unsure how a plastic surface will react.

Let every case dry fully before returning it to a shelf or protective sleeve. Gentle cleaning preserves the original character of a retro collection while making the display easier to enjoy.
