3D printing gives game prop builders a precise starting point, but the best results still come from planning the physical object. Before you print a full piece, decide where it will sit, how it will be held, and whether it needs to fit a person or another component.

Print a small scale check first. A short section can tell you whether the proportions feel right and whether a detail is worth keeping. It is much cheaper to correct a size choice early than after a long print.

Plan the finish while you plan the print. Seams, layer lines, and support contact points are normal parts of the process. A little sanding, filling, primer, and paint can turn a functional print into a prop that reads well in photos and on a shelf.

Keep notes on settings and materials that worked for you. Your second project benefits from every decision you make on the first.
